SAR-I-PUL, Afghanistan -- Fighting between the Taliban and pro-government forces has worsened in several districts of Sar-i-Pul Province, Afghanistan, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL)'s Turkmen service reported August 5.

The Taliban are operating a terrorist training centre in Kohistanat rural district, RFE/RL reported, adding that locals consider Kohistanat a breeding ground for militants who attack Faryab and Jawzjan provinces too.

Sar-i-Pul Governor Mohammad Zahir Wahdat is asking the central government to send more forces to Kohistanat to defeat the Taliban there.
