50 Afghan militants, 2 civilians killed

LASHKARGAH, Afghanistan -- At least 50 militants and 2 civilians were killed in recent violence in Afghanistan.

Overnight air strikes in Helmand Province August 13 killed at least 25 Taliban, the provincial government said, according to the Afghanistan Times.

Afghan troops in three other provinces killed 25 militants in a 24-hour span, the Defence Ministry said, according to an August 14 Afghanistan Times report.

Meanwhile, a roadside bomb August 14 in Helmand Province injured provincial police chief Aqa Noor Kentoz and two other police officers, Ministry of Interior (Moi) spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said, according to Khaama Press.

A Taliban rocket August 13 in Baghlan-e-Markazi District, Baghlan Province, slammed into a house, killing at least two civilians, provincial officials said, according to the Afghanistan Times.
