KABUL -- Afghan troops recently killed 92 militants in Paktia and Ghazni provinces, while seven Taliban surrendered in Sar-i-Pul Province.
Troops killed at least 12 Taliban in Janikhel District, Paktia Province, Maj. Gen. Asadullah Shirzad said September 6, according to the Afghanistan Times. The fighting lasted several days and ended September 5, he said.
Troops recently repulsed an attack on Gero District, Ghazni Province, killing at least 80 Taliban, provincial governor Abdul Karim Matin said September 6, according to Pajhwok Afghan News.
Five troops were killed in the fighting, Matin said.
Meanwhile, seven Taliban September 6 in Sar-i-Pul city laid down their arms, Pajhwok Afghan News reported.
