Afghan government, HI to sign peace agreement

Staff Report

KABUL -- The Afghan High Peace Council (HPC) and Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan (HI) party have agreed on a draft peace agreement to be signed after Eid ul Adha, the HPC said in a September 12 statement, according to Khaama Press.

The Eid holidays delayed the agreement, the HPC said, adding that President Ashraf Ghani and government CEO Abdullah Abdullah fully support the pact.

The agreement will consist of 25 articles, HPC spokesman Muhammad Amin Muzafari said September 10.
