Afghan forces kill 27 militants, clear 20 villages in Kunduz

KABUL -- At least 29 militants and five security men were killed in separate operations across the Afghanistan while security forces cleared more than 20 villages of Taliban in Kunduz province.

Security forces killed at least 27 militants during operations in eight provinces in past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said September 16, according to Pajhwok Afghan News.

Four Afghan security personnel have also lost their lives during clashes, the MoD added.

Security forces also cleared more than 20 villages of the Taliban militants in Qala-e-Zal district of Kunduz province, Afghan army's Pamir 20 Division said in a statement September 16, TOLO News reported.

Tens of Taliban were killed and wounded and a number of weapons were recovered during the security offensives, the statement said.
