74 Afghan militants, 7 security personnel killed

KABUL -- At least 74 militants and 7 troops were killed in recent fighting across Afghanistan.

Troops killed at least 67 militants nationwide in a 24-hour span, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said in a statement September 27, according to the Afghanistan Times.

The dead militants included 10 land mine planters and their commander in Ghazni Province, the MoD said, adding that seven Afghan soldiers were killed in the fighting.

Seven militants, including the Taliban military chief for Badakhshan Province, were killed when they participated in a September 26 attack on outposts in Jurm District, Badakhshan, Afghan National Army (ANA) spokesman Mahfuzullah Akbar said, according to a September 27 Khaama Press report.
