Gen. Dostum escapes life attempt in Faryab

KABUL -- The Afghanistan's First Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum sustained minor injury during a militants' attack on his convoy in Ghormach District of Faryab province, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah confirmed October 17, according to Khaama Press.

Dostum was on his way to a counter-terrorism operation against the group in north when his convoy came under militants attack October 16.

The attackers were wearing police uniforms ambushed our convoy, Gen. Dostum confirmed.

Separately, one person was killed and four others sustained injuries in an October 15 roadside blast in Mazar-e-Sharif city of Balkh province, TOLO News reported quoting local officials.

Meanwhile, unknown armed men gunned down a reporter for the state-run Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA) in Qalat city, the capital of Zabul province October 16 evening, police chief Gen. Mirwais Noorzai told Pajhwok Afghan News.
