116 militants, 9 uprising members killed in Afghanistan

KABUL -- At least 116 militants and nine local anti-militancy uprising members were killed in recent fighting in Afghanistan.

Troops recently killed 47 militants in Dangam District, Kunar Province, TOLO News reported November 2.

The militants were plotting to attack various districts in Kunar, but security forces responded, Provincial Governor Wahidullah Klimzai said.

In two districts in Paktika Province, at least 50 militants, including a commander of the Haqqani Network and a Taliban shadow governor, were killed in recent operations, security officials said November 2, the Afghanistan Times reported.

At least 13 Taliban and nine anti-militancy uprising members were killed recently during Operation Zafar 19 in Faryab Province, provincial police spokesman Abdul Karim Yoresh said, Pajhwok Afghan News reported November 2.

Meanwhile, an air strike in Nangarhar Province recently killed six members of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), the Ministry of Defence said November 3, according to Khaama Press.
