40 Afghan militants killed

KABUL -- Security forces recently killed at least 40 militants throughout Afghanistan.

At least 38 militants, including five commanders, were killed within a 24-hour span nationwide, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said, Afghanistan Times reported November 7.

Police recently killed two "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) arms suppliers in Nangarhar Province, the Afghanistan Times reported November 7.

At least 28 militants, including Taliban and ISIL members, were killed in Uruzgan and Nangarhar provinces recently, the Afghan National Army and Nangarhar police said November 7, according to Pajhwok Afghan News.

Another four insurgents were killed by their own prematurely exploding bomb in Kunduz Province, TOLO News reported November 7.

Those 32 dead militants might have been part of the 40 reported killed by the MoD.
