Suspected Taliban bomb-maker caught; 4 Kabul police officers dismissed

KABUL -- Afghan forces recently arrested a suspected Taliban bomb-maker in Nangarhar Province, media reported.

The forces captured Ghulam Akbar in an operation, the provincial police chief said in a statement, according to a November 22 Afghanistan Times report.

They seized a suicide vest and other explosives at his house, the statement added.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has fired four senior police officers after a deadly November 21 suicide bombing in Kabul, MoI spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said November 22, according to TOLO News.

The officers included Kabul Police District No. 6's chief of intelligence, chief of criminal investigation, chief of counter-terrorism and police chief, Sediqqi said.

The firings come after a suicide bomber killed more than 30 Shia at a mosque.
