57 militants, 2 soldiers killed in Afghanistan

KABUL -- At least 57 militants and two troops were killed in recent fighting in Afghanistan.

Afghan troops recently killed at least 38 militants in Helmand Province, the provincial government press office said according to a December 6 Khaama Press report. The news agency also reported that security forces killed another two members of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) recently in Achin District, Nangarhar Province, according to the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

Meanwhile, an operation that ended in Faryab Province on December 5 killed seven militants, Pajhwok Afghan News reported, quoting provincial Governor Syed Anwar Sadat.

And a recent battle in Shindand District, Herat Province, left at least 10 Taliban and two Afghan soldiers dead, provincial governor's spokesman Jilani Farhad told Pajhwok Afghan News on December 5.
