Security forces arrest 10 ISIL members in Kabul

Staff Report

KABUL -- The National Directorate of Security (NDS) recently apprehended 12 suspected militants in Kabul and Nangarhar, officials said.

NDS personnel recently nabbed 10 suspected members of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) who are accused of involvement in a suicide bombing at the Sakhi Shrine in Kabul in October, the NDS said.

At least 14 people were killed in that attack.

The NDS recently arrested two suspected would-be suicide bombers in Nangarhar Province before they could reach their intended targets, provincial governor's spokesman Ataullah Khogyani said Thursday (December 15), according to Pajhwok Afghan News.

The suspects were aiming to blow up government installations in Jalalabad, the NDS said.

Meanwhile, a Wednesday (December 14) explosion inside a house in Shahr-e-Safa District, Zabul Province, killed two children, Abdul Samad Durani, Shahr-e-Safa District chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News Thursday (December 15).

The bomb exploded when a child was playing with it, he said.
