Roadside bomb in Kabul targets parliamentarian

KABUL -- An Afghan parliamentarian was wounded and his guard was killed by a roadside bomb in Kabul Wednesday (December 28), TOLO News reported, quoting an eyewitness about the guard's death.

Fakuri Behishti, a member of parliament (MP) from Bamiyan Province, was en route to work at the time of the explosion.

Kabul Police Chief Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahimi recently said that his force foiled at least eight bombing plots in the city in the past two weeks, Khaama Press reported Tuesday (December 27).

Meanwhile, police in Kunar Province arrested a suspected member of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) who was allegedly carrying weapons to other militants in the province, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement Tuesday (December 27), according to Pajhwok Afghan News.
