BATI KOT, Afghanistan -- A Wednesday (December 28) mortar attack in Bati Kot District, Nangarhar Province, injured at least 13 civilians, the provincial police said Thursday (December 29), Khaama Press reported.
The injured included five children and two women. Some of them were discharged after receiving treatment, others remain in the provincial hospital.
Authorities blamed militants.
According to the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) records, militants in the country have caused 1,569 civilian deaths so far in 2016.
