KABUL -- The leader of the Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan (HI) party, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, soon will appear in Kabul, Pajhwok Afghan News reported another HI leader, Muhammad Amin Karim, as saying Tuesday (January 17).
HI signed a peace agreement with the Afghan government in September. During its years of warfare with the government, Hekmatyar stayed in hiding.
HI expects to participate in future presidential and parliamentary elections, Karim said, adding that it expects the government to release imprisoned HI members soon.
