60 Afghan militants, 11 security personnel killed in Uruzgan

KABUL -- Fighting in Uruzgan Province killed at least 60 militants and 11 security personnel, officials said.

A clearance operation on the outskirts of Tirin Kot killed at least 60 Taliban, provincial acting police chief Brig. Gen. Rahmatullah Sediqi said Thursday (January 26), according to Pajhwok Afghan News.

The dead insurgents included some foreign fighters and key Taliban commanders, he said.

Seven soldiers and four police officers were also killed, he confirmed.
