Staff Report

KABUL -- The Kunduz provincial education department has rebuilt 40 schools damaged in fighting between militants and troops, the Afghanistan Times reported Tuesday (February 7).

The department relied on 40.3 million AFN (US $602,323) in funding from the Education Ministry and the Aga Khan Foundation, Muhammad Rostam Ahmadi, acting provincial education director, told media.

The funding also paid for furniture and other necessities, he added.

Militants will not be allowed to destroy Kunduz schools, Kunduz Governor Asadullah Amarkhil said, adding that education of all boys and girls is his top priority.
