Taliban use biometric system to check passengers in Kunduz

Staff Report

KUNDUZ CITY -- Taliban fighters reportedly got access to the government's biometric system and conducted screenings of passengers on the Khanabad-Aliabad highway in Kunduz province on Tuesday (February 14), officials said.

The militants halted a bus going from Takhar province to Kabul and checked the passengers using a biometric system on their cell phones to determine whether there were government officials aboard, Hayat Lala Amiri, the Khanabad district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan.

Security forces converged on the scene and forced the militants to flee, Amiri said.
