Violence claims 18 in Paktika, Uruzgan

KABUL -- Four police officers, four civilians and 10 militants were killed in violence in Paktika and Uruzgan provinces, media reported Wednesday (February 22).

A bomb planted on a motorcycle exploded in a market in Jani Khel District, Paktika Province, killing four civilians, district administrative chief Haji Naeem confirmed, according to Khaama Press.

No one claimed responsibility, but the Taliban and Haqqani Network are active in Paktika, reported Khaama Press.

In Tirin Kot, Uruzgan Province, militants attacked police posts on Tuesday night (February 21), killing four police officers, provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Gulam Farooq Sangari told Pajhwok Afghan News Wednesday (February 22).

Security forces that returned fire killed 10 militants, added Sangari.
