Security forces foil truck bombing in Ghazni

KABUL -- Security forces killed two would-be suicide bombers trying to drive a bomb-laden truck into Ghazni city, said the Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Wednesday (February 22), the Afghanistan Times reported.

The truck contained hundreds of kilogrammes of explosives, said the MoI, adding that security personnel identified the truck and the militants in Mansour village and opened fire. The troops killed both militants and destroyed the truck.

Troops defused 21 roadside bombs in Garmsir District, Helmand Province, added the MoI.

Meanwhile, troops carrying out Operation Shaheen 25 in Haska Mina District, Nangarhar Province, killed 30 members of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) governor's spokesman Ataullah Khogyani said, according to a Wednesday (February 22) Khaama Press report.
