62 ISIL, Taliban militants killed in recent fighting

KABUL -- At least 62 militants from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) and Taliban were killed in recent violence throughout Afghanistan, media reported.

An air strike near Tirin Kot, Uruzgan Province, killed at least 10 Taliban insurgents, said the Ministry of Defence (MoD) Friday (March 31), according to Khaama Press.

Troops killed 27 ISIL insurgents in Kot District, Nangarhar Province, said the Afghan National Army (ANA) on Thursday (March 30), according to Khaama Press.

Fighting in Nesh District and Kandahar city, Kandahar Province, left 18 Taliban members and one police officer dead, Pajhwok Afghan News reported Thursday.

Security forces Wednesday (March 29) killed seven Taliban in Shindand District, Herat Province, ANA spokesman Najibullah Najibi told Pajhwok Afghan News Thursday.

Security forces in Paktika Province arrested two suspected militants accused of killing three police officers, the Ministry of Interior said Thursday, according to Khaama Press.
