4 Taliban, 49 ISIL militants killed in Laghman, Nangarhar

LAGHMAN, Afghanistan -- Four Taliban members and 49 "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) members were killed in combat in Laghman and Nangarhar provinces, media reported.

Troops clearing the outskirts of Mehtarlam, Laghman Province, Monday (April 10) killed four Taliban, provincial governor's spokesman Sarhadi Zwak said, according to Khaama Press.

They also made one arrest, said Zwak, adding that the man in custody is the brother of a Taliban commander already under arrest.

Air strikes that were part of Operation Hamza in Achin District, Nangarhar Province, killed 49 ISIL militants, including 12 foreign foreigners, the provincial police told Pajhwok Afghan News Wednesday (April 12).
