KABUL -- The Afghan Taliban announced the start of their spring offensive Friday (April 28).
The Taliban dubbed the offensive Operation Mansouri, evoking the name of their former leader who was killed in Balochistan last May.
The announcement comes after the Taliban killed scores of Afghan soldiers in a raid on an army base in northern Afghanistan on April 21 while the troops were performing their Friday prayers.
