Afghan forces kill Taliban shadow governors, capture ISIS suspect

KABUL -- The Afghan air force killed the Taliban deputy shadow governor for Kunduz Province and three other insurgents Monday (July 17), according to TOLO News, quoting Khalilullah Zeyaye, police commander for the country's north-eastern zone.

A former Taliban shadow governor of Chahar Dara District was killed too, he said.

Afghan troops and local residents Monday in Taywara District, Ghor Province, drove back a militant attack, killing at least 13 Taliban members. Four police officers and a civilian were killed, TOLO News reported, quoting provincial police.

Afghan forces in Chaparhar District, Nangarhar Province, detained an "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) suspect who is accused of plotting to attack Jalalabad, Khaama Press reported Monday.
