KABUL -- Afghan Taliban supreme commander Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada's son on July 20 carried out a suicide attack in Helmand Province, said the Taliban Saturday (July 22), according to a report that day by Radio Free Afghanistan (RFA).

Abdur Rahman (aka Hafiz Khalid), 23, allegedly died driving an explosive-filled vehicle into an Afghan military base in Gereshk District.

Authorities are investigating the bombing and cannot confirm the son's death, said an unidentified government official.

"They lied, it is part of their propaganda, Taliban's families & leaders are having luxuries life in Pakistan & Qatar", tweeted Afghan government spokesman Sediq Sediqqi.
