4 security personnel, 17 militants killed in Ghazni, Helmand

KABUL -- Violence in Ghazni and Helmand provinces left a district police chief, his bodyguard, two soldiers and 17 militants dead, media reported Thursday (September 14).

Mohammad Ishaq Jamil, police chief of Jaghatu District, Ghazni Province, and a bodyguard were killed by a roadside bomb Thursday in their own district, confirmed officials, according to TOLO News.

Jamil's vehicle hit a land mine, said officials.

Security forces lost two of their own while killing 17 militants in operations in three districts of Helmand Province, Pajhwok Afghan News reported Thursday, quoting the provincial government.
