KABUL -- Terrorist groups in Afghanistan have no option other than to surrender or be eliminated, said President Ashraf Ghani in a statement from the Afghan presidential palace Thursday (October 19).

Ghani made his remarks after a series of deadly attacks in Afghanistan that killed almost 200 people.

"After committing crimes and acts of savagery against humanity in Ghazni and Paktia, the terrorists once again martyred some Afghans and security personnel in Maiwand District of Kandahar," said the president.

"Those groups that have no any achievement in years [other than killing] people are on the verge of destruction and elimination," Ghani said.

Such terrorist groups again have refused to foreswear any act of savagery, he said.
