Taliban leaders killed in Helmand operations

HELMAND -- Afghan forces have killed several Taliban leaders in Helmand Province, Khaama Press reported Sunday (October 22).

Taliban leaders Qari Muhibullah, Mullah Basir, Mullah Zahir, Mullah Ahmad, Mahboob, Farid Janan, Mullah Mansoor, Mullah Esmat and Mullah Ghani were among the dead, according to provincial governor Hayatullah Hayat.

The latest counter-terrorism operations were conducted in Lashkargah city and the districts of Nad-e-Ali and Kajaki, said a statement from the provincial government.

At least 25 Taliban insurgents were killed, said the statement.

The Taliban did not comment.
