JALALABAD -- Afghan security forces have thwarted a militant plot to attack a mosque in Nangarhar Province, Khaama Press reported Tuesday (October 31).
Security personnel found two mortar rounds that had been placed in a mosque in the 3rd police district of Jalalabad, the provincial government media office said in a statement.
Afghan intelligence helped defuse the mortar rounds, said the statement.
Separately, Afghan forces arrested three suspects accused of plotting a suicide attack with a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device in Jalalabad, according to another statement Tuesday.
The National Directorate of Security arrested the men in Jalalabad's 3rd police district.
