HELMAND -- The Taliban deputy shadow governor for Helmand Province has been killed in an air strike by Afghan forces, reported TOLOnews Sunday (December 3).
Mullah Shah Wali was killed alongside three other militants in Musa Qala District, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said in a statement Sunday.
Wali was also the commander of the Taliban's special forces, the "Red Group", in the province, according to the NDS. He was appointed as deputy shadow governor and commander three years ago.
Wali "also had a hand in drug-smuggling and land-grabbing", said the statement.
The Taliban had no immediate comment.
