Premature IED blast kills Taliban leader in Laghman

LAGHMAN -- At least two militants were killed when the improvised explosive device (IED) they were preparing went off in Laghman Province, Khaama Press reported Tuesday (December 12).

The incident took place Monday (December 11) in Badpakh District at the residence of Abdul Samad, the Taliban's shadow district chief, the provincial government media office said in a statement.

Samad and Pacha Khan, a bomb maker, were killed.

Two other militants, including Samad's son, were wounded, said the statement.

The Taliban had no immediate comment.
