Security forces kill 50 militants in Sar-e-Pul

SAR-E-PUL -- Afghan air strikes in Sar-e-Pul Province have killed at least 50 militants, said the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army on its Facebook page Monday (December 18).

Qari Sher Mohammad, the Taliban's deputy shadow governor for Sancharak District, and several other commanders were among those killed during the operation, which began December 11, according to the statement.

At least 36 other militants were wounded during the air strikes, which destroyed a Humvee and several other vehicles, said the statement.

Afghan security forces reported no casualties.

The militants had no comment.
