KABUL -- The Afghan government has welcomed the Trump administration's newly released national security strategy (NSS), said a statement from President Ashraf Ghani's press office Tuesday (December 19).
US President Donald Trump announced his NSS Monday (December 18).
"We [the US] will continue to partner with Afghanistan to promote peace and security in the region. We will continue to promote anti-corruption reform in Afghanistan," according to the NSS.
"We welcome that the strategy aims to strengthen peace and stability in the region especially through diplomatic means," according to Ghani's statement.
