Security forces uncover Taliban weapon cache in Maidan Wardak

MAIDAN WARDAK -- Afghan forces have discovered a major Taliban arms cache in Maidan Wardak Province, Khaama Press reported Monday (January 1).

Troops found the cache during an operation in Syedabad District, provincial police said in a statement.

Militants planned to use the weapons to carry out a series of attacks in the province, according to Gen. Fahim Qayem, the provincial police chief.

The cache included heavy ammunition such as artillery rounds.
