MAIDAN WARDAK -- Afghan authorities have rescued a 12-year-old child in Maidan Wardak Province who had been kidnapped by militants planning to use him as a suicide bomber, Khaama Press reported Sunday (January 7).
Militants abducted the child a few days ago in Kabul and took him to Maidan Wardak Province to train him for a potential suicide attack, officials said.
Police rescued the boy during an operation in Jalrez District, Maidan Wardak, said security officials.
Last year in October, Afghan police arrested a 13-year-old boy who had been recruited by the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) to carry out a suicide attack.
