Security forces kill 23 Taliban militants in Nangarhar

NANGARHAR -- Afghan security forces killed at least 23 Taliban militants in an operation in Nangarhar Province, TOLOnews reported Thursday (January 11).

The operation was carried out in the Sordag area of Khoghyani District, the media office of the provincial governor said in a statement.

Among those killed were three Taliban commanders identified as Qari Hedayat, Qari Khalid and Ismael, said the statement, adding that fourteen other militants were also arrested.

Security personnel destroyed two motorbikes and land mines and seized weapons, the statement said.

The Taliban confirmed the incident.

No details were given on casualties among Afghan forces.
