ISLAMABAD -- The supreme leader of the Taliban has sent a delegation to Islamabad for unofficial talks on restarting peace talks, Khaama Press reported Thursday (January 18), quoting Taliban sources.

The Qatar-based delegation approved by Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada conducted talks Monday (January 15) in the Pakistani capital, said the sources.

US President Donald Trump announced his new strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia last August 21 in a bid to bring the Taliban militants to the negotiation table.
