JALALABAD -- A suicide bomber killed a senior provincial official and two other men in Nangarhar Province Wednesday (March 7), according to a statement from the provincial governor's press office.
The suicide bomber blew himself up near the vehicle of Abdul Zahir Haqqani, the director of Nangarhar's Hajj and Religious Affairs Department, in Jalalabad, according to the statement.
The blast killed Haqqani, his bodyguard and a passerby and wounded 16 civilians, the statement said.
No group immediately claimed responsibility.
