HELMAND -- National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives Wednesday (April 18) arrested a Taliban shadow district governor in Helmand Province, TOLOnews reported Thursday (April 19).
NDS special forces detained Mohammad Nabi, the Taliban's shadow governor for Washir District, during an operation in Lashkargah, the provincial governor’s office said in a statement.
Nabi confessed during preliminary investigations that he was leading a 10-strong insurgent group dubbed "Kamil" in Beshran village and another 10-member group in the Shah Peshta area of Washir, according to the statement.
The Taliban made no immediate comment.
