Security forces kill 29 militants in Badakhshan, including Taliban leaders

BADAKHSHAN -- Afghan security forces killed at least 29 militants during military operations in Badakhshan Province, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Thursday (May 3).

Afghan forces carried out operations in Malangan village, Tashkan District, killing 14 militants and wounding 25 others, according to the statement.

Separate clashes in Kohistan District killed 15 more militants and wounded seven, the statement added.

Taliban leaders identified as Abdul Bari, Mawlavi Ataullah and Mawlavi Hedayatullah were among those killed, the statement said.
