Gunmen kill 5 de-miners working on TAPI pipeline in Kandahar

Salaam Times

KANDAHAR -- Unidentified gunmen killed at least five de-miners Monday (May 21) in Kandahar Province, TOLOnews reported, citing security officials.

The workers were clearing improvised explosive devices to enable construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) natural gas pipeline project in Maiwand District when they were ambushed.

The gunmen abducted one de-miner, according to Kandahar provincial police chief Gen. Abdul Raziq.

No group immediately claimed responsibility, but Raziq blamed the Taliban for the incident.

Earlier in February and April, two separate groups of Taliban militants surrendered to authorities in Herat Province, saying that Iran ordered them to attack the TAPI pipeline.

You should pay more attention when publishing your news. For instance, in a news article published on 05/21/2018 you have written that armed men have killed 5 Deminers in Nangarhar, while these 5 deminers were in fact killed in Kandahar. I hope that in the future your workers pay more attention in general.
