NANGARHAR -- A local Taliban commander in Nangarhar Province was shot dead while attempting to sexually assault a woman, Khaama Press reported Thursday (May 31).
The militant, identified as Mirwais (also known as Ghubali), attempted to break into a house in Ghani Khel District where the woman was, according to a statement from the provincial government media office.
The owner of the house shot and killed Mirwais, said the statement.
Mirwais was involved in major terrorist-related activities in different parts of Ghani Khel, it added.
