MAZAR-E-SHARIF -- The Afghan Air Force conducted air strikes in Faryab Province, killing at least 13 Taliban militants, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Thursday (June 7).
Ground and air operations took place in Ferozani village and the Jangal Bagh area of Dawlatabad District, said the statement.
Seven other militants were also wounded, it added.
The air strike came before President Ashraf Ghani Thursday announced a week-long unilateral cease-fire with the Taliban in a bid to bring peace to the country.
