Taliban strike in Ghazni on 1st day of government cease-fire

GHAZNI -- The Taliban Tuesday (June 12) launched co-ordinated attacks in Moqor District of Ghazni Province, Khaama Press reported, citing local officials.

The militants detonated a Humvee packed with explosives near the police headquarters in the district, killing five policemen, according to officials.

Security forces killed 10 Taliban militants during clashes, officials said.

The attack took place on the first day of a temporary cease-fire announced by the Afghan government June 7.

The Taliban announced on June 9 its own cease-fire for the first three days of Eid.
