Afghan air strikes kill 24 Taliban militants in Faryab

MAZAR-I-SHARIF -- Afghan air strikes Sunday (July 1) killed at least 24 Taliban militants and wounded 31 others in Faryab Province, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement.

The air strikes were carried out in Pashtun Kot District, the statement said.

The Taliban military commission chief for Faryab, identified as Makhdoom Alam, was among those wounded, the statement added.

Afghan forces have resumed offensive operations against the Taliban after President Ashraf Ghani Saturday (July 1) declared the end of an 18-day ceasefire.
