IED wounds 9 civilians in Nangarhar

JALALABAD -- A blast caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) Monday (July 9) wounded at least nine civilians near a recreational area in Nangarhar Province, the provincial government media office said in a statement.

The incident occurred at about 10am in Chaparhar District, the statement said.

Two children were among those wounded, it added.

"One of the wounded is in critical condition, and all the victims have been taken to hospital," Ataullah Khogyani, a spokesman for the provincial governor, told TOLOnews.

No militant group immediately claimed responsibility.
