KABUL -- The "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) terrorist group abducted at least 12 de-miners in Kunar Province, TOLOnews reported, citing local officials.
The incident took place around 7pm Wednesday (July 18) in Darah-Ye Pech District while de-miners were busy clearing the area of improvised explosive devices, Ghani Musamim, a spokesperson for the Kunar provincial governor, said.
"Efforts are ongoing to release the de-miners," Musamim said, adding that they work for a local company called AREA.
Those abducted included 10 de-miners, a team leader and a doctor, said a company spokesperson.
