Afghan forces storm Taliban headquarters in Faryab

FARYAB -- Afghan commandos stormed a hideout that Taliban militants were using as a headquarters in Faryab Province, Khaama Press reported Wednesday (August 22).

Ten militants were killed in the Tuesday (August 21) operation in Khwaja Sabz Posh District, according to a statement by the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army (ANA).

The ANA seized some small arms and military equipment, it added.

The operation comes after air strikes Monday (August 20) killed 102 Taliban militants in Faryab Province, including several top leaders.
