KABUL -- Any group that continues to fight in Afghanistan and refuses to accept peace is an enemy of Islam and of the Afghan people, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, a former militant commander and one-time Taliban ally, said Tuesday (August 21), according to TOLOnews.
"Anyone who continues the war and creates problems against peace ... is the enemy of the people, [our] religion and the country and is serving foreigners," he said during an Eid prayer ceremony in Kabul.
Hekmatyar also criticised the Taliban's bloody rampage in Ghazni last week.
Last November, Hekmatyar confirmed the Taliban's relationship with the Kremlin. He has been a vocal critic of Iran's destabilising activities in the country.
