BAGHLAN -- At least six Taliban militants, including a local commander, were killed during clashes with Afghan security forces in Lakan village of Baghlan Province, Khaama Press reported Wednesday (September 5).
The Taliban commander killed was identified as Qari Jawid, according to Khaama Press, citing a statement by the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army (ANA).
At least 11 Taliban members and two Afghan troops were injured, added the statement.
The Taliban have yet to comment.
Air strikes conducted by the ANA killed 12 insurgents in Sokay District, Kunar Province, the Ministry of Defence tweeted September 5.
